South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of William Joseph Godlewski, 36, of Moncks Corner, on nine charges connected to the sexual exploitation of minors. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Moncks Corner Police Department made the arrest.

Investigators from Wilson’s office, as well as a member of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted with the investigation.

Investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which led them to Godlewski. Investigators state Godlewski possessed files of child sexual abuse material.

Godlewski was arrested March 21 and charged with nine counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count.

The attorney general’s office will prosecute this case. Wilson stressed that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
