A driver's recent romantic dalliance along the Spiers Boat Landing area in Cross didn't quite go according to plan, as the operator of a "suspicious" vehicle, according to police, was questioned and collared on a slew of charges, including trafficking cocaine, unlawful carrying of a firearm and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
While patrolling the rural area earlier this month, a Berkeley County deputy detected the smell of burnt marijuana emanating from a vehicle occupied by Devon Shaquain Jamison and an unidentified passenger, as detailed in a corresponding Facebook posting.
During questioning, Jamison informed the officer that he had just finished smoking with the passenger while they were engaged in a "sexual act."
The lawman later learned that the individual in question had an active warrant out in his name from Orangeburg County, which prompted the deputy to detain Jamison.
A search of the vehicle yielded the following items:
* Four marijuana blunts
* A black Taurus handgun
* Four bundles of cash in the center console
* Additional marijuana
* A large cellophane bag containing ten separate cellophane baggies with some containing a white rock and a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine. The combined weight of the bags was 37.92 grams.
