Haylee Wilkerson

Berkeley catcher Haylee Wilkerson, center, will represent the Berkeley High School in the North-South all-star games.

All-state selections and all-star designations for high school softball teams have come down the pike and the squads from Berkeley and Timberland are well represented.

Stags infielder Jersey Silver was a Class 5A all-state pick while Timberland’s Abby Prince, an eighth grader, sophomore Gracie Prince and junior Brooke Moody were Class 2A all-state picks.

Silver guided Berkeley to a Region 7-AAAAA championship, hitting .500 with 19 RBIs from the leadoff spot.

The younger Prince led Timberland inside the circle and combined with older sister Gracie to form a strong battery. Abby Prince batted .647 and Gracie Prince posted a .524 batting average. Moody, the Lady Wolves’ centerfielder, batted .618.

Timberland won region and district titles this spring.

As for the Coaches Association of Women’s Sports’ North-South all-star picks, Berkeley outfielder Brooklynn Stueness and catcher Haylee Wilkerson will suit up for the Class 5A-2A-1A South team.

Stueness batted .493 with 25 RBIs while Wilkerson finished with a .450 batting average and 29 RBIs.

The all-star games for the state’s best seniors are set for June 19-20 at USC Aiken. The 5A-2A-1A South will take on the 5A-2A-1A North before squaring off against either Class 4A-3A South or Class 4A-3A North.

The squad with a 2-0 mark wins the all-star week.
