Cross High School sprinter Raynee Green will leave the Lowcountry for the middle of the state after graduation.
A longtime track and field athlete, Green inked a letter of intent with Columbia College. She also played basketball at Cross High School.
“She worked hard throughout the year, which led to a scholarship,” Cross track coach Eric Murrell said. “She has been a pleasure to coach and a leader for the younger girls to follow. She competed at every meet and gave her all.”
Green ran track for Cross since seventh grade and her time in the program was highlighted by a state championship as a sophomore. The Lady Trojans’ 4x100 relay rose to the top of the podium.
This past season, she was third in the 100-meter dash and ran a leg on the 4x100 team that finished second.
Columbia is a women’s college and competes in the Appalachian Athletic Conference in the NAIA.
