Frances Jay Shipley
Frances Jay Shipley, 91, died September 6, 2018 in Fairhope, Alabama. Her graveside service was held on September 11, 2018.
Born December 19, 1926 in Quitman, Missippi, she was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Jay. Ms. Shipley graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama. Afterwards, she pursued a career in banking and worked at the Bank of Berkeley, South Carolina National, and Wachovia, all located in Moncks Corner, SC, where she resided from 1952-2012.
Ms. Shipley was an active member of The First Baptist Church in Moncks Corner for most of her adult life. She served as a member of Berkeley Library Board, Berkeley County Historical Society, Moncks Corner Book Club, and was involved in numerous other community activities.
She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers. She is survived by her sons: Dr. Charles F. Shipley,III (Kaye) of Columbia, SC; Michael J. Shipley (Renee) of Satsuma, AL; and Richard M. Shipley (Dee) of Tavares, FL.; grandson Charles F. Shipley, IV (Vanessa) of Lexington, SC; granddaughters Jennifer Kyser (Blake) of Satsuma, AL; Erin Rutledge (Conor) of Gulf Shores, AL; five great granddaughters; sister-in-law Lucy Jay of Lebanon, TN; many nieces and nephews.
