Suspicious gunfire

Back on Jan. 5, deputies in Berkeley County were called to an apartment on Snow Goose Circle. Deputies said the complainant told responders a bullet had gone through the home’s ceiling. Upon further investigation deputies said they talked to residents who live directly above the complainant. The incident report states that a gun a guest was carrying accidentally fired into the apartment floor. Deputies said they searched the area for the person who had the gun, but they failed to locate him; the projectile was removed and placed into evidence, according to the report.

Drunken driving

On Jan. 18, deputies in Berkeley County were called to assist the South Carolina Highway Patrol following a pedestrian hit-and-run near Miami Street, located off of College Park Road. The incident report states an elderly women was taken to the hospital with injuries. Deputies said they patrolled the area and found a vehicle parked at a residence that matched the description of the one involved in the crash. Deputies said when they talked to the man inside the home, they noticed his reactions were slowed and he had bloodshot eyes. Deputies asked how he received the damage to his car and he eventually admitted being the driver. He also became very apologetic and stated he couldn’t lie, according to the report. Deputies said he admitted to getting into a collision but was unsure what he hit. The incident report states that when the man was told he hit a person, he became emotional and admitted he shouldn’t have been drinking and driving. Troopers then arrested him.

Robbery

Deputies in Berkeley County were called to Black Tom Road in the Longridge area on Jan. 17. Deputies said they talked to a victim who had previously been knocked unconscious and robbed. Deputies said the victim was at a residence with others when the suspect arrived. Deputies were told the suspect was carrying a pistol but didn’t brandish the weapon. Deputies said while the party was going on and people were chatting, the subject struck him hard in the face knocking the victim unconscious. The incident report states that when the victim awoke the suspect was gone, but the victiim was missing $400 from his shirt pocket. No arrests were made at the time of the report.

Drug arrest

On Jan. 17, a Berkeley County deputy was patrolling the area of College Park Road and Highway 78. The report states the deputy turned into the Spinx gas station and witnessed a hand-drug transaction. Once the parties involved with the transaction saw the deputy, they quickly disbursed. The vehicle involved then exited the parking lot of the gas station, and the deputy conducted a traffic stop, according to a report. Deputies said the driver was visibly nervous and was asked to step out of the vehicle. Both the female driver and the male passenger told deputies in the report that they didn’t have anything illegal and consented to a search. Deputies said during a search of the vehicle they found numerous dosages of prescription narcotics and 5 grams of what’s believed to be methamphetamine, along with $1,400 in cash. Both suspects were arrested.
