A Cross family is without a home, after a blaze destroyed the Footmon Lane residence on Thursday, according to the American Red Cross.
The agency’s disaster-trained volunteers are assisting the eight-member family — five adults and three children — with financial needs as well as food, clothing, lodging and personal hygiene items.
Eadytown Fire Department responded to the incident, Red Cross said.
Fire officials were not immediately available for comment on the fire’s cause.
Red Cross officials are also reminding residents to take precautions and be more mindful this holiday season, when there is a potential for house fires related to Christmas trees and cooking.
Fire related to Christmas trees are often more deadly, according to the Red Cross.
Residents are also urged to check smoke and fire alarms inside homes and develop and practice an escape plan multiple times a year.
