The Berkeley County Delinquent Tax Sale will take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 5 in County Council Chambers, located inside the Berkeley County Administration Building. The facility is at 1003 Highway 52 in Moncks Corner.
If additional days are necessary to complete the auction, an announcement will be made to that effect before the close of business each day. The sale on subsequent days, if needed, will start at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.
The mobile home sale will begin approximately 30 to 45 minutes after the land sale ends.
All real property and mobile homes owing delinquent taxes are subject to sale. To avoid sale, all delinquent taxes, assessments, penalties and costs must be received and processed by the county prior to 5 p.m. on Nov. 2.
Personal or company checks will not be accepted since sufficient time must be allowed for the checks to clear the bank. Only cash, money order, certified funds, or attorney’s trust/escrow account checks will be accepted for payment of taxes. Credit/debit card transactions are accepted with a 2.4-percent and one-percent transaction fees.
Advertising will appear the weeks of Oct. 18, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1. Real property to be sold will be advertised in the Post and Courier on those three dates in the name of the current owner and the defaulting taxpayer, defined by the South Carolina statutes as the owner of record Dec. 31 of the year preceding the taxable year.
The mobile home listing will be advertised for two weeks starting Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.
On Oct. 17, the listing of properties to be sold will be posted on the county website .
The mobile home listings will be available on Oct. 24.
