Guys in ties

Guys in Ties is a group of fourth and fifth grade boys who will be working throughout the year on learning many life skills including how to be a gentleman and a leader. The first official meeting occurred in October. The activity for the initial meeting was teaching the boys how to tie a tie so they will be able to wear a shirt and tie to all future meetings, presenting themselves as gentlemen. There were four dedicated volunteers that came to mentor and serve as role models as they taught the students this important skill. They included John Stanley from the Mount Pleasant Fire Department, and three medical students from MUSC: Brenton Davis, Thomas Valente, and Trey Logan.

For the November meeting dancing instructors James and Kristen Jiang from Charleston Ballroom Dance Club came to instruct the young gentlemen in the art of ballroom dancing. Faculty members volunteered to partner with students and take a “turn” around the floor.
