Celebrate the Season Holiday Lights
The Holiday Lights Driving Tour, 1 Riverwood Drive, Moncks Corner with dozens of spectacular lights displays, takes place 6-9:30 p.m. from Nov. 29-Dec. 30 (closed Dec. 24, 25 & 26) and begins at Santee Cooper headquarters. $5 per vehicle.
26th Annual Moncks Corner Tree Lighting
At 6 p.m. on Dec 6 at the Market Pavilion, 418 East Main Street, Moncks Corner join the crowd for the 26th Annual Moncks Corner Tree Lighting. The Celebrate the Season Holiday Fairs will kick-off this same evening in the Regional Recreation Complex featuring vendors, food, entertainment and carnival rides and you can visit a very special guest, Santa.
St. Stephen parade and tree lighting
The Town of St. Stephen extends an invitation to everybody to attend and enjoy the annual traditional Christmas events on Dec. 6. The night time, lighted Christmas parade line-up time will be 6 p.m. on 129 Hood Street, St Stephen. The parade will start at 6:30 p.m.The Town Christmas Tree along with all trees on the walk will light up after the parade in the Alice Price Park.
From 6-9:30 p.m. on Dec. 6-9, Dec. 13-15 and Dec. 20-22 at the Moncks Corner Regional Recreation Complex, 418 E. Main Street, Moncks Corner the Holiday Fairs offer families and friends a place to gather and celebrate the holidays. Enjoy free visits with Santa, carnival rides, crafts, food and festive activities. This event is free. No pets.
From 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Dec. 7 at the Spring Hill United Methodist Church, at intersection of Spring Hill Church Road and Old Gillard Road (Hwy. 27) in the Sandridge Community, the Spring Hill United Methodist Church’s Ladies Society is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner. Plates are $9 and include spaghetti/meat sauce, salad, bread sticks, dessert and tea (eat in or carryout). All proceeds will go to the parsonage fund.
Moncks Corner Christmas Parade
This year’s Moncks Corner Annual Christmas Parade, 6 p.m. Dec. 7 on Main Street. This year’s event will be held in the evening, allowing participants to light up Moncks Corner with their creativity and holiday cheer. When the parade ends, make your way to the Market Pavilion at the Regional Recreation Complex, 418 E. Main Street, for pictures with Santa. The holiday Fairs will be in full force featuring vendors, food and entertainment with carnival rides.
Here’s a chance for you to give back to your community — AARP Foundation Tax-Aide need volunteers for next year to assist in preparing free income taxes for the elderly and others who needs help with their income taxes in Goose Creek, Summerville and Moncks Corner. Leadership positions also available such as Client Facilitators. Training is provided on a self-paced basis with individual assistance as needed along with on-line IRS training and testing. Use of your own laptop may be necessary. There is one week orientation in December and two weeks of training in January. PTSD support group
The PTSD support group meets at 7 p.m. Mondays at the Fellowship of Oakbrook, 1400 Trolley Road, Summerville. The military PTSD support group for veterans, families and friends will provide free anonymous assistance that includes understanding, support, guidance and coping skills for those affected by PTSD resulting from combat or traumatic military experiences.
