Alligator Walk March 30

On March 30 at 10 a.m. the staff at Old Santee Canal Park, 900 Stony Landing Rd, Moncks Corner, will take a close look at the king of the swamp the American Alligator. The alligator is always a thrill to see basking in the warm sun! We will do a short presentation inside covering the natural history of alligators using our live alligator, then head outside to see these beautiful reptiles in their natural environment. Lifeguard Training Classes

From 6-9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, April 8-20 and May 6-18, North Charleston Recreation, 1455 Monitor St., North Charleston is offering two sessions of Lifeguard Training Classes. The classes are for ages 15 and up and will be held at the Danny Jones Pool. Registration is $100 and must be done in person at Amory Park across the street from the pool. Participants must pass a swimming test to be eligible to take the course. The test will be the first day of class. Free Boater Course

From 8:30 a.m. — 4 p.m. on April 13, at Roper Berkeley Auditorium, 730 Stony Landing Road, Moncks Corner, there will be a free Boater Education Course for youngsters ages 12-18. Certified instructors from America’s Boating Club Charleston will cover such topics as rules of the road, required safety equipment, communications afloat and jet ski safety. Participants will earn the DNR boater education card required for boaters under 16 years of age. Class is limited to 24 participants. Pizza lunch will be provided. Teen Talk workshop

From 12 – 2 p.m. on April 13 at Cainhoy/Huger/Wando Substation Conference Room, 1501 Rec Road, Huger, the Community Neighborhood Watch and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office will host a Teen Talk Workshop. Relay for Life

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on May 3, at Berkeley High School, 406 W. Main Street, Moncks Corner, the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life will begin with the opening ceremony. Celebrate people who have been touched by cancer and remember loved ones lost. Survivor and Caregiver Lap will take place at 7 p.m. and the luminaria ceremony will begin at 9:30 p.m. The closing ceremony will be at midnight. Free Spring Concert Series

From 6-9 p.m. on May 3 at the Crowfield Golf Course, 300 Hamlet Circle, the City of Goose Creek will host a Spring Concert Series. The outdoor concerts will also be May 17 and May 31. May 3 will feature the Masker Band, on the May 17 it will be the Shem Creek Boogie Band and the Two 3 Ways band will be on the May 31. Lunch, fellowship

“The Lord’s Ladle Café” in the Goose Creek United Methodist Church fellowship building located at 142 Redbank Road is open to all comers for lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. Submarine veterans

United States Submarine Veterans-Charleston Base meets on the second Thursday of each month except December at the FRA Branch 269, 99 Wisteria Road in Goose Creek. PTSD support group

The PTSD support group meets at 7 p.m. Mondays at the Fellowship of Oakbrook, 1400 Trolley Road, Summerville. The military PTSD support group for veterans, families and friends will provide free anonymous assistance that includes understanding, support, guidance and coping skills for those affected by PTSD resulting from combat or traumatic military experiences. NAMI support group
