Holiday safety

Christmas and New Year is affectionately known as the most wonderful time of the year. We hope that everyone is having a safe and enjoyable holiday season thus far. However, please be cautious of thieves who are targeting certain people. These “grinches” are aiming to steal Christmas joy from others.

Lieutenant Mark Hamilton of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office shares some very useful tips to avoid these incidents:

  • Keep your house and vehicle doors locked at all times
  • If you are away from home for some time, still leave a few lights on in the house
  • Let a trustworthy neighbor know if you will be gone away for a few days
  • It is not always a wise idea to note on social media when/where you are traveling
  • Avoid taking big purses while shopping
  • Avoid shopping at night
  • Try traveling in pairs or small groups, when going shopping

Please keep all these helpful tips in mind and share with others. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

December birthdays

We are sending birthday greetings to all of our neighbors who were born in December. Although there are lots of holiday celebrations throughout this month, we hope your day was special. As I, too, was born in December, I know personally of the the combined birthday/ Christmas gift.
