At the culmination of the 2018-2019 school term, the Berkeley Training High School Class of 1964, presented $2,000 in scholarships to students in four area high schools.

The outstanding recipients were as follows:

Jaylan Dubase is a senior at Berkeley High School. Dubase will attend Albany State University and will pursue a major in nursing.

Micha Staggers is a senior at Cane Bay High School. Staggers will attend the University of South Carolina and will major in computer information systems.

Josten Bryant is a senior at Richland North East High School. Bryant will attend Claflin University and will major in computer engineering.

Tanaihya Vandross is a senior at Berkeley High School. Vandross will attend the University of South Carolina at Beaufort and will major in business administration.

Representatives of the class of 1964, Charles Scott, president; Bobby Coaxum, vice president; Eleanor Scott, treasurer; Janice Johnson, secretary, and Devon Fladger, scholarship coordinator, said they are hopeful that the scholarships provided will enhance the opportunity for recipients to make the 21st Century and beyond, a better place for everyone to live, work and play.

Women’s Day Program

The Day Dawn Baptist Church family will be conducting its annual Women’s Day Program, during 10 a.m. service, on July 28, 2019, at the Day Dawn Baptist Church, 2057 Highway 45, Pineville, SC. The speaker for the program will be Minister Constance Wilburn of

Jerusalem United Methodist Church, Cross. The public is invited to be in attendance. The Reverend Joshua Prioleau is Pastor.

Reunion reminders

Heirs of the late John Jefferson will be in reunion in Charlotte, North Carolina, July 18-21. Members are reminded to follow-up with family contact representatives for additional information.

Members of the Gathers, Gethers, Geathers Family, will be in reunion, Aug. 30 through Sept. 1, in Eutawville. Contact family members for additional information. Deadlines for information reception and attendance are quickly approaching.
