Leading by three going into the final quarter of a close non-league game against visiting Airport, Timberland pounded the paint to break away with a 14-6 run.

Timberland defeated the Eagles 56-44 Feb. 12.

With aggressive defense lead by Denzel Willis and Aldrick Fordham, the Wolves held a one-point lead after the first quarter. The Eagles didn’t give Timberland any time to break away in the second quarter, matching the Wolves score 15-15.

“It was a real close game going into that second half,” Fordham said. “We knew we had to do something to get a better advantage and make it more then a one score game.”

Both Fordham and Dominique Richardson put up 13 points each to help THS take a 41-38 lead going into the final quarter.

The Eagles’ aggressiveness on defense and intensity wouldn’t last during the final minutes of the game, as Timberland outscored the visitors 14-6 for the win.

“We knew we had to find away to break the game open,” Timberland Head Coach Jerome Stewart said. “We did that in the fourth quarter and knocked out a win.”
