Both Timberland and Bluffton battled for the advantage during this 7-AAA-regional match-up.
The Lady Wolves held an eight-point lead at the end of the second quarter but were outscored by the Bobcats 13-8 in the third leaving them trailing by one point.
The final minutes of the fourth quarter made the difference as THS broke open the game with a nine-point run, outscoring the visiting team 21-6.
“It was close up until the last few minutes,” Timberland’s Cambria Sayall said. “We did what we had to do and that’s what made the difference.”
Sayall and her teammates Rafeska Brown and Mecedes Litchfield took advantage of Bluffton fouls, hitting 11 free throws, allowing the Lady Wolves to take a sizable lead.
“Game are often determined by the final few minutes of play,” Timberland Head Coach Cleve Touchberry said. “It was a close one going into that fourth quarter, but the girls played great in those final minutes and we got the win.”
Sayall and Brown put a combined 40 points on the board during the Friday night game.
The 10-8 Lady Wolves were scheduled to travel to Hilton Head on Feb. 5, before returning home to face Lake Marion.
