Wolves maul Bobcats, 75-48

In a 7-AAA-regional match-up, Timberland high school dominated the visiting Bluffton Bobcats from the outside and in the paint, maintaining a sizable lead throughout the Friday night game Feb. 2.

The Wolves set the tone with a 12-4 lead in the first quarter hitting seven unanswered points before Bluffton put its first points on the board. Timberland’s Aldrick Fordham and Jasper Kinlaw look their time to make crisp passes, spreading out the Bobcats defense and knocked down clean shots from behind the arc to take a 33-22 lead at the end of the first half.

“We kept the intensity up and it paid off,” Timberland Head Coach Jerome Stewart said.

The Wolves continued to dominate the paint throughout the night nearly doubling the Bobcats buckets in the second half. Holding onto a 53-38 lead at the end of the third quarter, Timberland took away any hope of a comeback for BHS as the Wolves outscored them 22-10 in the fourth.

“It’s essential to always win the battle in the paint,” Stewart said. “Just like in the trenches, you have to win the battle in the paint if you want to win the game.”

Timberland’s schedule takes them to Hilton Head before returning home on Feb. 7, to face off against the Gators of Lake Marion.
