“The Citadel is my first choice,” Wrenn said. “I believe in my heart that is where I belong.”
The THS senior also had offers from Francis Marion, Limestone and Spartanburg Methodist.
The 6’3”, 185-pound lefthander was 8-3 last spring with a 1.57 ERA. He allowed 40 hits in 49 innings and struck out 54, while giving up only 17 walks.
Wrenn also had a big year at the plate, with a .473 batting average. He tallied eight doubles, three triples and a homerun to drive in 27 runs.
Wrenn’s mother, Mechelle Wrenn, said she is pleased with her son’s choice. “We are so grateful that Blake is going to The Citadel,” she said. “(We knew) that … the Lord would open up the door to help him and let us know that is where he is meant to be.”
Wrenn was also an outstanding quarterback for the Wolves. He guided THS to the AAA state championship football game in 2006, and the regional finals in 2007. He was an all-region selection in football.
