Shanyra Lisbon scored 22 points to lead the Lady Trojans to a 46-30 win over St. John’s.
Sometimes it takes more than four quarters to win a basketball game.

In their second double overtime game of the season, the Cross Trojans’ Jalen Frazier again came through in the game’s waning seconds, hitting a go-ahead layup with seven seconds remaining to push Cross to a 60-59 win over St. John’s Friday.

The win improves CHS to 6-2 in Region 6A (6-11 overall) and helps solidify the team’s lock on second place in region play.

In the girl’s game, Shanyra Lisbon’s 22 points paced the Lady Trojans to a 46-30 win to improve their region mark to 4-4, (6-13 overall).

For the Trojan boys it was about battling back and finishing the game.

“It was a hard fought game all the way through,” said Trojans Coach Eric Murrell, “Double overtime where we trailed for most of the game and had to fight back.”

Frazier’s layup as the clock wound down were the last of his 25 points on the night.  Branford Halls followed with 13 points and Dominique Dingle added eight points to help lead Cross.

“We play Baptist Hill at home this week for an opportunity to lock up that second place spot,” Murrell said. “But we also have three tough games week, traveling to Military Magnet on Thursday and hosting Burke on Saturday.”

The Region 6A playoffs begin on Feb. 14, with the Region 6 second seed hosting the third seed in Region 5.
