Owens’ team has an experienced backcourt returning with junior guards Makayla Dudley and Lindsay Manning. Dudley averaged 7.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last winter.
Manning chipped in 4.6 points and seven boards per game.
Senior forward Brookelynn Doctor is another returning starter after averaging five points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks.
New starters are senior forward Kabreea Howell and junior center Brett Pilcher.
“I feel like we play very good half-court defense,” Owens said. “We need to improve running the offense and transition defense.”
Cane Bay opened the season on Monday night at home against James Island. Cane Bay hosts Ashley Ridge on Friday in its second game.
On Tuesday, Dec. 4, the Lady Cobras host Berkeley.
