The Green Wave volleyball team swept a tri-match with Hanahan and Berkeley County Monday.
Summerville (8-11, 3-3) earned a 25-18, 16-25, 25-23 win over the Hawks (10-7, 4-2) and a 25-23, 25-17 win over the Stags (3-8, 1-5).
“We played with heart against Hanahan to earn a come-from-behind win,” Summerville coach Teresa Kendle said. “Our serving was good in both matches and we were very scrappy and determined.”
After winning the second game convincingly, Hanahan carried all the momentum into its tiebreaker game with Summerville. The Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Summerville came charging back to tie the tiebreaker at 15. It was a battle from there.
Junior Zuri Green led the Wave in the comeback, making three kills, three blocks for points and a service ace. Ashleigh Green had two kills and two blocks for points in the game. Senior Tinara Brown had three kills and a block for a point.
The Wave fell behind at the beginning of both its games with Berkeley, but again rallied to win both. After evening the score at 7-7 in the second game, Summerville took control.
Summerville had 11 service aces in the Berkeley match. Zuri Green had five of them and added six kills. Ashleigh Green had nine kills and two blocks for points. Brown had four kills and a service ace.
On Thursday, Summerville has a pair of region matches as it will take on Ashley Ridge and Beaufort at Ashley Ridge. The Wave will then participate in the Wando Invitational Oct. 12-13 and host Fort Dorchester and Stratford Oct. 16.
