Doris Jane Crump




Doris Jane Crump of New York, formerly of St. Stephen, died March 29.  


Services were held April 9 at St. Stephen Baptist Church with the Rev. Harvey Mack Jr. officiating.  Burial, directed by Gethers Funeral Home Inc., was in St. Paul Memorial Cemetery.


Born Sept. 3, 1936 in St. Stephen, Mrs. Crump was a daughter of Arthur and Dora Wallace.  She was a graduate of Russellville High School.  After relocating to New York, she was employed with Harlem Hospital as a Nursing Aide, and later became a Practical Nurse and continued working at Harlem Hospital until her retirement in 1998.  


Mrs. Crump was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church.  She later joined St. Stephen Baptist Church.  She enjoyed Sunday worship and fellowship.


Survivors include her husband, Bernard Crump Sr.; three sons, Bernard Crump, Jr. (Joan and stepson, Dennis), Shedric Crump (Janet and grandson, Derek), and Ezra Crump; a sister Almeta Marshall (Eurial); brothers, Aaron Wallace and Samuel Wallace (Patricia); an aunt, Pauline Williams;  sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews; a godson, Nathaniel Matthews.
