Body of Mt. Pleasant woman found; funeral for her fiancé held in Moncks Corner
(AP) Police have suspended the search for a 30-year-old missing Mount Pleasant woman after a body was found not far from where the woman's burning SUV was discovered.
Investigators have not identified the remains found Friday afternoon in the Frances Marion National Forest, but they are presumed to belong to Dara Lee Watson. She was last seen Feb. 6 and her charred vehicle was found the next day.
Her fiancé, David Lee Hedrick, reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself just hours after she was reported missing on Friday, but did not leave a note according to police. The search for Watson has taken place throughout the week, and captured the attention of the region and state.
Funeral services for Hedrick, 34, were held at Dial-Murray Funeral Home on Thursday in Moncks Corner.
Hedrick, of Mt. Pleasant, was the CEO of Palmetto Surety Corporation.
According to his obituary posted by Dial-Murray Funeral Home, he was born on April 6, 1977, in Roanoke, VA, a son of Donald David Hedrick of Las Vegas, NV and Julie Earles Hedrick of Moncks Corner. He was a graduate of Lord Berkeley Academy and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Charleston.
A candlelight vigil was scheduled for Friday night in Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park across the Cooper from Charleston.
The case remains under investigation.
