Santee Cooper employee electrocuted

Tragedy struck Berkeley County Tuesday, as a Santee Cooper employee was fatally electrocuted while working on a transmission power line.

According to Berkeley County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Salisbury, 25-year-old Jeremy Thomas of Moncks Corner was electrocuted at approximately 10:20 Tuesday morning.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, Salisbury said.

The accident took place in the Macedonia community of Berkeley County, about five miles north of Moncks Corner, Salisbury said.  The accident is under investigation by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy will be conducted.

Santee Copper Linemen are not just coworkers they truly are brothers.Jeremy is a one of a kind and would always have your back no matter what. He could make you laugh at just about anything. He will truly be missed. Jeremy will ever be forgotten and never be replaced! He is "Climbing higher than the rest, He is better than the BEST." Please continue to pray for his wife Lauren, daughter Caroline, and son Camden. We love you!

It seems like yesterday we ran the woods of Macedonia together. All this has hit me so hard, but remember the good times we had will never be gone. You are my brother my best friend the best anyone could ask for. My heart goes out to your daughters, wife, and family. I will miss you my brother my best friend you shall live always in my heart.
