The name of a Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office employee who was terminated in the wake of a prisoner escape has been confirmed by the BCSO.

BCSO Sgt. Patricia Collins was fired earlier this week. Two other BCSO employees that were suspended for one week without pay are Pfc. Tyler McWethy and Sgt. Rosemary Sanders.

The name of a fourth employee who was disciplined has not been made public.

The information was confirmed by the BCSO on Thursday, two weeks after James Sanders escaped from the Hill-Finklea Center on Jan. 23. Sanders’ escape came after employees violated policy, according to a BCSO statement.

At the time of the escape, Sanders had just returned from a hearing at which he received time served for violating a restraining order. However, Sanders was already serving time in prison for criminal domestic violence, and should not have been placed in a holding area reserved for prisoners who are in the process of being released, according to officials.

Sanders remains at large.
