On Wednesday morning motorists and residents along U.S.-52 and Old Highway 52 could see residual smoke hanging in the air.

The smoke is from a controlled burn at Mulberry Plantation that took place Tuesday, Moncks Corner Rural Fire Department Chief Scott Lee said.

“With the weather like it is, it’s going to settle down during the night,” Lee said, adding that smoke covered the town and all the way to Pinopolis. “It’s just residual smoke.”

The fire was between Old Highway 52 and Oakley Road, near the Berkeley Country Club, Lee said.

Mulberry Plantation is a big sightseeing tour for tour buses because there are a bunch of old plantation homes there, according to Lee.
