I am writing this letter in regards to the condition of Hwy. 6 from Moncks Corner to Cross. I have traveled Hwy. 6 every morning for the past 20 years. I cannot express my concerns strongly enough about the potholes in the highway.
When your vehicle hits one of the many potholes, it causes it to nearly be snatched out of your hands … or it is causing the vehicle to become out of alignment.
I know that many of the residents of Cross do not have the money or time to spend to repair their vehicles.
The citizens of Berkeley County should not have to pay for damage that was caused by someone else’s negligence, such as the SCDOT or the Berkeley County Roads and Bridges Department.
My main concern is, who is going to be responsible for the funeral arrangements for the person who is going to be killed from hitting one of the potholes? Who is going to pay for the hospital bills when the person is injured after hitting a pothole?
This is a major concern for citizens of Berkeley County living in Pinopolis and Cross. We all pay state and county taxes, and I don’t understand why our highways and roads are in such bad shape. I have written each of our senators and representatives a letter expressing my concern about the highway. I have asked that each of them review this highway, and consider repaving Hwy. 6 from Moncks Corner to Cross.
