Winners of the SCYABA Banner Contest at Timberland High School were (l-r) Kendrick Carroll, Maria Hydrick, Diana Nixon, Jenna Heredia, Michelle Davis and Sharonica Irving.
SC Young Adult Book Award Banner Winners for THS

Students at Timberland High created banners for the South CarolinaYoung Adult Book Award Program, and winners were announced last week.

Kendrick Carroll won for creating a banner depicting the book In the Name of God by Paula Jolin.  Second Place was awarded to Maria Hydrick, Diana Nixon and Jenna Heredia for their banner of Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac written by Gabrielle Zevin. Third place was awarded to Sharonica Irving and Michelle Davis for their banner of Wake written by Lisa McMann.  

First received a $25 gift card, second place $15,

and third $10. The gift cards were provided by Walmart and given out by THS Assistant Principal Brenda Fleming.

The other students who entered a banner are Mark’eliah Reaves, Chelsey Britton, Brigitte Hood, Chelsea Wingate, TJ Herlihy, Mike Herlihy, Josh Herlihy and Whitney Hood.

The contest was sponsored by Donna Rodin, Media Specialist.

Timberland’s Adrain Phillips placed fourth in the state in wrestling in the 189 weight class. Congratulations to Adrain, his family, and Coach Keller for all their hard work.

Upcoming Events

THS Baseball: On Wednesday, March 17, the Wolves host Cane Bay at 7 p.m. along with the JV. On Friday, they travel to play Andrews at 6:30 p.m.

THS Softball: The Lady Wolves will travel to play Andrews March 19 at 6:30 p.m. (JV and Varsity).

THS Track:  On March 17, the Wolves host Manning, Kingstree, and Hemingway at 5 p.m.

Sunday, April 11: 100 Women in Royal Blue Empowerment Worship Service at Wesley AME at 4 p.m. Speaker will be Minister Shelia Green of Grace
