Christmas Party
The W.I.R.E. Christmas Party will be held at the new Coop Building in Moncks Corner at noon on Thursday (Dec. 10).
All women who live in areas with service by Berkeley Electric Cooperative are invited to attend. Everyone is reminded to bring a child’s gift for children hospitalized at MUSC during the holiday season.
Upcoming Events
The Female/Male Bonding Session for Cross High School ROTC cadets will take place Dec 10 at the school. The facilitator for the females will be attorney Rita Roach while the male session will be conducted by S.C. National Guard personnel.
Also, Dec. 10 is the Cross Service Learning Team Members Annual Luncheon. Each year this luncheon recognizes students in the 7th-9th grades who are involved in a community service at school.
Students are evaluated on a daily basis based on their performance. The annual luncheon recognizes all students with special recognition to those who have distinguished themselves.
Each student evaluation form is placed in the student’s school record to be used later for employment purposes. Parents have been invited to the luncheon, and all students will be visited by Santa with a bag full of gifts.
Other upcoming events especially for the ROTC Cadets will be the Historical Parade in Hollywood, and on Dec. 16 the Rock Wall Display.
The ROTC cadets have already been busy in December with the S.C. State University ROTC Pershing Rifles Exhibition on Dec. 2. On that date the cadets also performed an honor drill for the entire high school.
A community service project on Dec. 4 was a Highway Clean Up by the ROTC Cadets.
Pineville Chapel Christmas
A Christmas Concert by Van High and Friends was performed for the benefit of Berkeley North Historical and Cultural Committee at the Pineville Chapel on Sunday afternoon.
A reception followed at the home of Keith and Betty Gourdin. Only 100 tickets were available and some of us waited too late again to have the opportunity to attend this lovely event. Next year watch and call Keith or Betty Gourdine immediately.
Happy 90th
Mrs. Lina Bradwell West celebrated her 90th birthday on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
For lunch her son-in-law Wade and daughter Linda grilled steaks and brought a steak luncheon to enjoy with their Mom. Several visitors came by and the phone rang a number of times with well wishes.
On the following Sunday Lina’s sister Maude Flood came after her Sunday School Class to join a group from Friendship who, with the Rev. and Mrs. Carrol Cash, took Lina and Maude out for lunch after church.
After Christmas Social
The Cross Community Center will celebrate an after Christmas Social on Saturday, Dec. 26, at the center beginning at 8 p.m. Music will be provided by DJ David Bailey. Tickets are $6 for singles and $10 for couples. This event is being sponsored by Linda and Gardenia Washington and Yvonne Bradley.
Dress colors will be silver and blue so come out and get your groove on!
Congrats
Diane Brown celebrated her 50th birthday at the Family Life Center at Jerusalem UM Church in Cross on Saturday. She was dressed in her royal blue and gold beaded dress with matching coat wearing a gold crown.
She was escorted by her husband (and King) Robert Brown. Several wellwishers from Cross, Charleston, and out of town came to say “Happy Birthday.”
Mr. Mack Guice, Mr. Joe Brown, Mr. Terrence Green and other musical guests helped to serenade Mrs. Brown Brown. Congratulations, Diane!
Get Well Soon
Get well wishes are sent to Lillie Whitten, Wanda Flint, and Walter Ravenell. Everyone hopes you all will continue to regain your strength.
Thanksgiving Dinner
The descendants of Lillie and Thomas Ramsey met at the home of Herman Ramsey in Cross and celebrated their annual Thanksgiving Dinner.
A good time was had by all, and delicious food was enjoyed! A special thanks to Michelle for all of her cooking, especially with her “hand."
