Frances Thrash, a floral designer from Virginia, will present a lecture and demonstration on new National Garden Club designs at Park Circle in North Charleston on Feb. 9.
Mrs. Thrash is a Master Flower Show Judge, a flower school instructor, and a FTD Master Designer.
The morning session will start promptly at 10 a.m. followed by a lunch break at noon. A 1 p.m. Mrs. Thrash will host a design workshop to assist participants with making their own designs. Bring your materials to work with critique or just come to observe.
Admission to the lecture is free to all members of garden clubs belonging to the Council of Garden Clubs of Greater Charleston.
Church Supper
The Spring Hill United Methodist Church will sponsor a Spaghetti Supper (spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and dessert for $6) from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6 at Spring Hill United Methodist Church at the intersection of Old Gaillard Road and Spring Hill Church Road in the Sandridge Community.
You may get tickets from any member of the church or contact Debbie at 688-5519. Upon request, plates will be delivered to Holly Hill, St. John’s Academy in Moncks Corner and Lebanon Fire Department. All profits will go to the Parsonage Fund of the Lebanon Charge.
Racing for Cures
Last weekend the Biering family headed to Daytona for a very special event in the lives of their family.
Nicholas Biering has raised nearly $5,000 this year for the Children’s Tumor Foundation, and Daytona was Racing for Research at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona event. Carmen says that the family would like to thank those who have contributed to this very “close-to-home cause”.
Fire Department Barbecue
Everyone who rode over to The Lebanon Fire Department enjoyed the great barbecue sponsored on Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Lebanon Community Center.
Scrapbooking Opportunity
Those folks who are always “scrapbooking” and others ready to begin will want to know about a great opportunity on March 20.
On that Saturday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., Crop for a Cure No. 5 will take place at the Berkeley County Emergency Training Center on Reid Hill Road in Moncks Corner (behind Walmart). The registration fee of $25 must be paid in advance by March 17; please make checks payable to The American Cancer Society.
The Roper Hospital-Berkeley Relay for Life, Crop for a Cure No. 5 will include a vendors market with a grand prize basket and relay bingo with chances to win great prizes.
All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society and all meals for the event will be provided as well as coffee, tea, and water all day. Come share a fun day with family and friends!
