“Am I reading this correctly?”

That’s what a 29-year-old Hanahan man thought when the $10 Carolina Millionaires Club instant ticket he scratched revealed a $1 million top prize.

The South Carolina Education Lottery announced the winning ticket two weeks ago.

The player, who wants to keep his name private, bought the lucky ticket at Kwik Fill at 1252 Yeaman’s Hall Road in Hanahan. Kwik Fill received a $10,000 selling bonus for selling the winning ticket.

“It’s great,” said Kwik Fill owner Sam Adgani.  “We are happy the ticket came from our store.  We wish the winner all the best.”

According to a release by the SCEL, the new millionaire says winning this much money is hard to believe.  He plans to share his prize with the people who helped him get through school.

Since the Lottery’s inception in 2002, the General Assembly has appropriated more than $2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2009.
