Father, son arrested in meth bust

A father and son were arrested last Wednesday night for allegedly planning to operate a meth lab in Sangaree.

It's been a rough few months for the family: the son was arrested in February on the same charges, along with his brother and sister in-law.

A tip led deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office to a trailer on 108 Wheeler Road in Sangaree, where they found 5 grams of meth along with the chemicals and other materials needed to manufacture the drug, according to the sheriff's office legal council Blair Jennings. The lab wasn't yet active, Jennings said.

William Hutto Sr., and his son, Joshua Hutto, 24, were both charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute and possession with intent to distribute close to a school, according to Jennings. Michael Holiday, 50, was also arrested on the same charges.

This is the second time in as many months that Joshua Hutto has faced meth charges.

Joshua Hutto and his brother, William Hutto Jr., 31, were arrested following a pair of sheriff's office raids in Ladson and Goose Creek on Feb. 19.

On that date, William Hutto Jr. and his wife were arrested for allegedly running a meth lab out of a home on Mellard Drive in Goose Creek. The couple was also charged with child endangerment for exposing their four children to the toxic chemicals that are given during the production of methamphetamine.

Deputies arrested Joshua Hutto in Ladson shortly after the raid in Goose Creek. Jennings said that Hutto was still out on bond for the first offence when he was arrested again on Wednesday.
