East Shore collects candy for troops

  • Thursday, November 1, 2012

East Shore Athletic Club is participating in Operation Gratitude this Halloween by collecting excess candy and sending it to our troops. All 13 East Shore locations will have a collection box at the front desk. Members and non-members are encouraged to bring in their extra Halloween candy between now and Monday, November 6th.
Approximately 66% of adults in the United States are overweight, with almost 30% categorized as obese.
We are working hard to help our community live a healthier lifestyle. We want to take away the temptation of eating too much of the left over candy and at the same time bring some happiness to our troops, its a win win. said Kate Wartner, Director of Corporate Wellness.
Operation Gratitude annually sends 100,000 care packages to individually named US Service members deployed in hostile regions, to their children left behind, and to Wounded Warriors, Veterans and First Responders.
