Grace Zoller named Girls Golfer of the Year

Grace Zoller

Senior Grace Zoller provided both leadership and low scores for the Ashley Ridge Girls Golf team.

“Throughout the season, she displayed a tremendous work ethic,” Swamp Fox coach Samuel Stevenson said. “She practiced as she played, with seriousness and intention. Grace was a reliable and reassuring presence on a team of younger, inexperienced players. Her demeanor on the golf courses during matches was top-notch, and she always displayed great sportsmanship and integrity. Grace was the unquestioned leader of our team, and her teammates had great respect for her.”

Zoller won all but one of her matches during the regular season and when the pressure was at its peak, she turned in the top performance of any Region 7-AAAAA golfer at the Class AAAAA state championship match. Those things led to her being named the Summerville Communications Girls Golfer of the Year.

Zoller turned in a two-round score of 165 at the state meet to tie for 17th place in a field of more than 100 golfers. As a senior she also received all-region honors and was selected to participate in the 2017 S.C. Coaches Association North-South Girls Golf All-star Matches.

Zoller has been awarded a scholarship by the Lander University golf program.
