Holiday Lights and Driving Tour: 6-9 p.m., Nov. 25-Dec. 30 (closed December 24 and 25). Enter the driving tour at One Riverwood Dr., Moncks Corner. Admission is $5 per vehicle. Tickets are available to purchase in advance online at www.celebratetheseason.org/About/Index.aspx#Tickets. Hop in the car with your family and friends and follow the picturesque path through thousands of brilliant, twinkling lights. The lights are powered with 100 percent green power from Santee Cooper.

Letters to Santa: Dec.1-15. Goose Creek Community Center, 519A N. Goose Creek Blvd., Goose Creek. Write your letter to Santa and deliver it to the special Santa mailbox at the Goose Creek Community Center and receive a personal note back from Santa himself! Christmas Tree Lighting in the Creek: 5:30-8:30 p.m., Dec.2. Goose Creek Municipal Center, 519 N. Goose Creek Blvd., Goose Creek. Kickoff the holiday season in Goose Creek as the City's Christmas tree is lit for everyone to see! Christmas in the Creek will feature holiday hayrides, holiday crafts, marshmallow roasting, photos with Santa, and lots more! 29th Annual Moncks Corner Christmas Tree Lighting: 6-7 p.m., Dec. 2 at the Moncks Corner Recreation Complex Event Field, 418 E. Main St. Free event. Moncks Corner Holiday Festival: 6-9 p.m., Dec. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, and 17. Event Field at the Moncks Corner Regional Recreation Complex, 418 E. Main St. Free event. Come visit with Santa, cozy up to the fire pit and roast marshmallows with your family and friends. Fun rides for the kids and much more. Shop with local artisans. Moncks Corner Nighttime Christmas Parade: 6 p.m., Dec.3. Along Main St., downtown Moncks Corner. Get into the holiday spirit with friends and family as you watch the parade go by. Nearly 100 entries will pass by with beautiful lights and festive decorations. Applications to participate in the parade are due by Nov. 21. For more information, call 843-719-7952.

Indigo Workshop: 10-11 a.m., Dec. 3. Old Santee Canal Park, Interpretive Center, 900 Stony Landing Drive, Moncks Corner. Fee is $5 per person with paid park admission. For all ages, under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Eliza Lucas Pinckney established the first successful crop of indigo in South Carolina in 1744. It soon became the second-most profitable crop in the colony, preceded only by rice. Come learn all about this fascinating plant, how to process it for dye, and its impact on South Carolina history. Participants will even be able to try their hand at indigo dyeing with an item (t-shirt size or smaller) brought from home. Registration is required by Dec.1. Class is limited to 40 people. Women's Self Defense Class: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Dec. 6. Goose Creek Recreation Activity Center, 519 N. Goose Creek Blvd., Goose Creek. Women's self-defense classes are intended to provide basic awareness and defense skills applicable to a variety of common situations wherein women may become victims.  Our instructors provide both lecture and hands-on training. Participants set the level of hands-on activity they wish to become involved in. Senior Christmas Dinner: 12:30-2:30 p.m., Dec. 7. Goose Creek Community Center, 519A N. Goose Creek Blvd., Goose Creek. Free for Goose Creek Senior residents and $5/non-residents. Pre-registration is required. Tickets will be available at the Goose Creek Community Center starting the Monday, Nov. 28 after the Thanksgiving Banquet. Deadline is Dec. 2 or until tickets sell out. Crime Prevention Meeting: 6:30-7:30 p.m., Dec. 8. Goose Creek Police Department Training Room, 519 N. Goose Creek Blvd., Goose Creek. You’re invited to the GCPD’s quarterly city-wide crime prevention meeting. Crime statistics and patterns will be discussed and the best way to prevent crime will be presented. Free Saturdays at Cypress Gardens: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Dec. 17. Cypress Gardens, 3030 Cypress Gardens Road, Moncks Corner. Admission is free for Berkeley County residents and their dependents with a photo ID. For more information visit cypressgardens.berkeleycountysc.gov.

Holiday Guided Canoe Trip: 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Dec. 17. Old Santee Canal Park, Interpretive Center, 900 Stony Landing Drive, Moncks Corner. Fee is $5 per person plus park admission. For all ages, under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Even though winter is upon us, many creatures of the swamp love this time of year! Our educator on staff will inform you about the plants and animals you come across on this trip. You will explore the remnants of the first canal ever built in America and learn some park history. Canoes, lifejackets, and paddles will be provided and a short instructional period for beginners will be done in the classroom. Bring the whole family out for a morning filled with excitement and the perfect blend of history and nature. Class size is limited to 20 people. Registration is required by Dec. 16. Picking at the Post: 6 p.m., first Thursday of every month. American Legion Post 166, located at 116 Howe Hall Road, Goose Creek. Calling all musicians! Join us for an old fashioned Back Porch jam session. Beginners are welcome. Acoustic instruments only; no amplifiers.

Needlecraft Group at BCLS: 1-4 p.m., every Thursday. Cane Bay Library, 1655 Cane Bay Blvd., Summerville. All types of needlecraft are encouraged. Experienced participants, may bring a working project of knitting, stitching, crochet, embroidery or cross-stitch, and are available to assist beginner participants. Goose Creek Architectural Review Board: 6:30-7:30 p.m., meets third Monday of every month. The city of Goose Creek Architectural Review Board requirements are that all changes to commercial properties be reviewed and approved by the board. The application deadline is 5 p.m., 14 days prior to a board meeting. For major applications, the project will need to be reviewed by staff, comments/corrections issued to the applicant/architect/engineer and comments addressed/corrections made by the applicant/architect/engineer prior to submission of the application on the deadline. Goose Creek City Council Meeting: 6-7 p.m., meets the second Tuesday of each month, at City Hall, 519 Goose Creek Blvd. All city council meetings are open to the public and include the opportunity for attendees to address council with questions and concerns. Moncks Corner Board of Zoning Appeals: 6-7 p.m., meets the first Tuesday of each month. Moncks Corner Town Hall, 118 Carolina Ave. The board votes on special exceptions and variances, and only meets when applications have been submitted. The public is welcome to attend.

Moncks Corner Town Council Meeting: 6-7 p.m., third Tuesday of each month. In the courtroom at Town Hall, 118 Carolina Ave. Any changes in the meeting schedules are advertised in advance. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Berkeley County Board of Education: 5:30 p.m., meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month in the boardroom located at 107 E. Main St. in Moncks Corner (except as noted on Oct. 27 and March 9). Board meetings are open to the public and citizens are encouraged to attend. There is an opportunity for “Citizen Comments” at the start of each meeting. Meetings are streamed live on the BCSD YouTube channel.
