Home Telecom has recently announced plans to increase internet speeds to 100 Mbps for their Community Connect customer base.

Through their combining of the Community Connect Program with the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), the telecommunications company is now ensuring that qualified families will now be afforded up to $30 in monthly credit. This lowers their monthly bill to $9.95 with the speed upgrade.

This service, as explained in a Home Telecom press release, comes with 100 Mbps download speeds, a modem, self-installed home WiFi, eight email addresses, Trend Micro Security and additional features. What's more, families won't be charged with modem fees nor will they be restricted with data caps.

All this comes with no contracts and consumers can opt out at any time.

The 100Mbps option is currently available to over 90 percent of customers in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties.

The newly-presented discounts, per Home Telecom, was born out of the realization that more school-aged children needed access to high-speed internet in order to complete their homework assignments.

“The Community Connect program is an important part of our continued mission to bring reliable internet and Wi-Fi services to families with school-aged children. We want to ensure they have high speed internet service to further their education and complete their schoolwork at home,” said Home Telecom President and CEO William Helmly. “Equally as important is ensuring that all residents have reliable, affordable internet for any needs they may have like virtual telehealth visits and telework opportunities.”
