Chamber, Haley ready to celebrate county

The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce will formally celebrate Berkeley County and the companies and individuals who have been a mainstay of its success on Friday, Sept. 5.

Gov. Nikki Haley will be the featured speaker at the chamber’s Annual Meeting, set for 11 a.m. at the North Charleston Convention Center at 5001 Coliseum Drive in North Charleston.

In an news release, the chamber ticked off a host of reasons for county residents to feel good about where they live.

This past year, Berkeley County has been recognized as the fastest growing county in South Carolina. In addition, since 1977, Berkeley is the only county in the state to have four individual years with more than $1 billion in capital investments, enabling future development and progress for the county.

The 2014 Annual Meeting will celebrate significant business leaders of Berkeley County and their individual and irreplaceable roles in our current and future economic development.

Along with Haley, the chamber will be highlight the four major industries that benchmarked those four years of billion dollar of capital investments—Google, NUCOR, Alcoa, and DuPont/Kevlar.
