They’d been called out.
And on Friday afternoon they answered with abandon.
A group of 22 Berkeley Intermediate School teachers, along with Principal Mike Shaw were called out to take the ice-bucket challenge to raise awareness for ALS.
Never let it be said that teachers will not rise to the occasion.
Seated 22 across on the front sidewalk of BIS, Shaw and his teachers took one for the team, getting doused with buckets of ice water as they named off the schools they challenged to do the same.
“We called out just about everybody in Berkeley County,” Shaw said.
From H.E. Bonner Elementary to St. John’s Christian Academy, and all schools in between, their names have been called.
More than $41 million has been raised in support of ALS research, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
