Shonni Abernathy was sentenced Tuesday in Charleston federal court to 30 years in prison for his role in a methamphetamine lab explosion in 2012 that killed three people in a Goose Creek apartment complex, according to reports.
Abernathy, 41, pleaded guilty in 2013 to one count of conspiring to manufacture meth and one count of manufacturing meth near a school.
He faced a potential life sentence due to two prior felony drug convictions.
Abernathy was the last of four defendants in the case. He and three codefendants were arrested following a May 31, 2012, explosion and fire that destroyed an apartment building in the Pine Harbour complex, killing Abernathy’s 19-year-old daughter, a 4-year-old cousin and a 69-year-old neighbor.
Gerald McCabe was sentenced to 25 years in prison in September. He faced the same charges as Abernathy.
Two other codefendants received probation, according to reports.
