Trip out of town costly for Cross man

A man returned to his Trippette Lane home in Cross to find $13,300 worth of valuables missing after his landlord called to tell him his front door was open.

The victim told Berkeley County Sheriff’s deputies that he was out of town since June 29 and returned after the call from his landlord on Aug. 1. He told deputies that $9,600 worth of gold and silver coins were missing, as well as $2,000 worth of new clothes, a 14-karat gold necklace and a 39-inch flat-screen TV.

Deputies found damage to the front door of the residence. No suspects were named.

Job site theft suspect arrested

A county man is in jail after police said he stole fixtures from several homes under construction over the past six weeks.

Berkeley County sheriff’s deputies responded to a new home construction site on Stoney Field Drive near Moncks Corner on July 30 in reference to the theft of electrical fixture items worth $778.

Goose Creek police contacted the complainant and told him the items were recovered from a man they had arrested earlier for thefts at construction sites on Trumpet Tree Drive in Hayden Ponds.

Subsequent interviews with the suspect revealed he was also a suspect in other burglaries at new construction sites in the area since mid-June, according to the Goose Creek arrest report.

Pills taken from car

A man reported items stolen from his car, including Hydrocodone pills, totaling $1,300 last week.

The alleged theft took place at 2055 Harbour Lake near Goose Creek. The victim told sheriff’s deputies that someone apparently entered his unlocked vehicle sometime between 9 p.m. Aug. 5 and 7 a.m. Aug. 6 and took 64 Hydrocodone pills, a GPS navigation device, a radar detector and a camera.

No arrests have been made.

Sunoco on Redbank Road robbed

A man possibly armed with a knife took cash from the Sunoco at 1519 Redbank Road early Sunday, according to a Berkeley County Sheriff’s report.

Witnesses inside the store told officers that a white male with a shirt over his head and an object in his hand covered with a plastic bag walked directly behind the counter and demanded that the clerk open the cash register. The suspect took all of the money in the register and fled on foot through the parking lot and a stand of trees nearby.

No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.
