SLED investigating county shooting

  • Saturday, August 9, 2014

A shooting in Ladson involving a Summerville man is being investigated by SLED.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office release, a deputy pulled over a 2014 Ford Fusion just after 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, on College Park Road in Ladson.

According to a BCSO release, at the time of the stop a shooting occurred inside the stopped vehicle. The deputy was not involved in the shooting incident.

A 21-year-old female was wounded and transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and was treated and released. The passenger, Jemane Antone Sanders, 27, of Brookstone Way in Summerville, was arrested on an outstanding General Session Bench warrant, the BCSO reported.

This agency requested the assistance of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to investigate the shooting incident.

According to the BCSO release, it is standard procedure for this request because a deputy of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop when the shooting occurred.
