A local group named “Togetherness” is asking for our assistance. Togetherness is planning a Back to School Bash on Aug. 9 at the Cross Park from 4 to 6 p.m.
Each school student will receive a back to school packet. Donations are being requested to accomplish their goal, so please contact one of their officers to join together for this worthwhile project.
Officers of Togetherness are President Sandra Thompson (843) 753-7900, Vice President Amy Johnson (843) 312-1103, Secretary Shanae Brown (843)303-1079, and Treasurer Kela Middleton (843) 377-9407.
You may donate money or supplies including paper, pencils, crayons, erasers or other school supplies. As you may know, some teachers and grade levels have their own special lists of supplies so money is always a great donation!
Contact one of the ladies listed above or someone you know who is working with this group. Our assistance is needed for the benefit of our children.
Marie Craig recently visited her son and his family in Greenville. Next she traveled southward to Edisto Island to visit her sister and family for a second week away while husband Dennis went to work!
Julie and Bryan Strock and their family traveled in their RV to Myrtle Beach for a wonderful time away. Returning home Julie stepped out of their RV with one bag. With that one step down , the result was two broken bones in her leg. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Julie!
Connie and O’Dell Shuler enjoyed a camping trip to Myrtle Beach for a week of sun and fun.
Julie and Bryan Strock would now like to thank everyone for their kindness in so many nice ways. Their parents and others have brought meals, have taken their 4-year-old for time away from home and given teenage sissy Olivia a deserved break from her many chores.
A very special thanks to Diane and Mark Edwins who had a scooter which allows Julie to rest her knee and now move around more freely.
Mt. Olivet Baptist Church had a most successful week of Vacation Bible School at the end of July as did Galilee Pentecostal Holiness Church. Robin W. Sweatman served quite well as director of VBS at Mt. Oliver for the second year, and the church was nearly filled for the commencement service. The Rev. Mickey White is pastor at Mt. Olivet.
A very special wish is sent to C.J. Cannington who had his 15th birthday on July 30. C.J. celebrated with a party at his Pinopolis home with all of his grandparents present as well as many friends and others.
Joe Cross celebrated his birthday on July 29. Mary Cross placed lovely flowers at Friendship Church on the following Sunday in Joe’s honor.
