Stratford High rising senior Tara Watkins is the first high school student in South Carolina to become a Microsoft Office specialist master and specialist expert — designations that shows she has the deepest level of skills needed to proficiently use Office programs.
She has earned her specialist certifications in Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint; and she has earned her specialist expert certification in Word and Excel.
“I made that my goal before I graduate, to get all of them,” Watkins told the Independent. Stratford offers some Microsoft certification courses, but Watkins has gone beyond the curriculum and began studying on her own to earn the certifications.
Last week, Tara traveled to Tennessee to put her Office skills to the test in a national competition, called Future Business Leaders of America.
