They come in all shapes and sizes, from near and far to be a part of this program.

These Diamondbacks.

They come because they want to showcase their talents and up their game.

They want to take softball to that next level.

Like Jenny Finch.

The 14-Under Goose Creek Diamondbacks are comprised of 11 girls representing seven different high schools across the Lowcountry, with seven of the 11 players representing Berkeley County high schools. Courtney Dean, Savannah Dean and Lacey Guerry call Berkeley High School home, Chloe Pelham is a Stratford Layd Knight, Haley Rawls plays for the Cane Bay Lady Cobras, Cassie Haines places for St. Johns Christian Academy, and Whitney Bennett is a Hanahan Lady Hawk.

Other players include Hannah Guida from Wando and Madison Atienza, Destiny Brown, and Skylar Tuel play for Ashley Ridge.

“Every week the girls work hard in practice and battle the heat, blood, sweat and tears to improve their skills,” said Coach Jimmy Pelham. “The Goose Creek DBacks organization is committed to developing our players softball skills while encouraging a positive and fun social experience. We will foster competitive softball in which girls can learn, grow and be challenged.”

Willie Atienza serves as a Dbacks assistant coach.
