The National Weather Service has forecasted for a tropical depression to drift toward the Southeast this week and intensify to a tropical storm.

It will be the first named storm of hurricane season, Arthur.

As of Tuesday morning, Tropical Depression One is about 200 miles southeast of Jacksonville, Fla. The depression has 35 mph winds.

The forecast predicts the storm will continue a slow westward drift Tuesday morning before turning north later in the day. Tuesday night, the storm is expected to be upgraded to a tropical storm.

The storm is expected to follow the eastern coastline, which will bring it in contact with the Charleston area by Thursday morning.
