John D. Hattel

John David Hattel of Alvin, a retired recreation director for the Department of Defense, died Sunday morning, June 15, 2014 in a North Charleston hospital. He was 65.

Surviving are his wife, Marcia Robinson Hattel; a daughter, Kelly L. Hattel of Manila, Philippines; three step-daughters, Amanda Allmond of Travelers Rest, Michelle Smith of Moncks Corner, and Patricia Barnes of West Columbia; a brother, Barrie Hattel and his wife, Sharon, of Brighton, CO; one grandchild; eight step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

Charlie Levine

Charlie Levine of Cross died on June 1, 2014. He was 62.

Services were held on Saturday, June 7 at Jehovah AME Church in Cross. The Rev. Clifford Levine was the eulogist. Henryhand Funeral Home was in charge.

Tommie Sue Mason

Tommie Sue Parkinson Mason of Bonneau, former owner and operator of Mason House Kennels, died Saturday afternoon, June 14, 2014 at her residence. She was 75.

Surviving are her husband, Officer Garry Mason; a daughter, Terry Lou Brown of Orlando, FL; two sons, Tommy Brown of Oregon, and Danny Brown of Orlando, FL; two step-daughters, Melissa Mason Hughes of Rockford, IL, and Bianca Smith of Oshkosh, WI; two step-sons, Duane Mason and Darnell Mason both of New York, NY; a sister, Jackie Lou Propst of Dallas, TX; and eight grandchildren.

Jesse J. O’Connor Jr.

Jesse James O’Connor Jr. of Bonneau, a former heavy equipment operator, died Monday morning, June 16, 2014 at his residence. He was 39.

Surviving are his parents, Jesse J. O’Connor Sr. and Violet Litchfield O’Connor, of Bonneau; two sons, Remington O’Connor and Tristin O’Connor, both of Bonneau; a sister, Tammy O. Jackson and her husband, Winifred, of St. Stephen; his girlfriend, Diane Bowman of Bonneau, and her son, Josh Suders; and two nieces, Rebecca Nicole O’Connor and Bryanna Jackson.

Patricia B. Smith

Patricia Blanchfield Smith of Moncks Corner, a retired registered nurse, died Monday morning, June 16, 2014 in a Summerville hospital. She was 85.

Surviving are two daughters, Donna Hawkins of Los Angeles, CA, and Judith Bogert of Moncks Corner; a granddaughter, Kimberlee Hawkins; and a great-grandson, Darian Fitz Hawkins.

B.C. Tuttle

B. C. Tuttle of Moncks Corner, a retired South Carolina Highway Patrolman and Berkeley County probation and parole officer, died Thursday morning, June 12, 2014 at his residence. He was 82.

Surviving are a daughter, Cindy T. Ward and her husband, Randy of Moncks Corner; six sisters, Joyce Smith, Carolyn Barton, Doris Jean Bailey, Priscilla Yoder and Ann Tuttle, all of Great Falls, SC, and Dorthy Mae Jordan of Greer, SC; two grandchildren, Chad and Travis Ward, both of Moncks Corner; and a great-grandchild, Chadwick Ward.
