  • Sunday, May 18, 2014

The St. Stephen Small Town Restoration’s Inaugural Par 3 Golf Tournament is set for Saturday, May 24.

Play will begin with a shotgun start time set for 9:00 a.m. at Walker Creek Golf Course on Tobacco Road just off Mendel Rivers Road. Golfers should register and be at the course no later than 8:15 a.m

Early registration is welcome, but golfers can pay the day of the tournament.

Entry fee checks should be made payable to “Small Town Restoration Inc.” Checks can also be mailed to P.O. Box 249, St. Stephen, SC 29479, or dropped off at Walker Creek Golf Course. A signup sheet will be available for those interested in playing.

“The purpose the golf tournament is to provide funding to go toward the restoration and to clean up, beautify and make the town more attractive for the people of St. Stephen,” said Wes Pratt, tournament coordinator.

“Those buildings on Main Street are on the historical list so we have to be careful with what we do. The bricks from which the Main Street buildings were construct were made right here in St. Stephen so they demand extra special care.”

Pratt said his group is doing whatever they can to help with the town restoration project.

“Anything we can do to help the town will be helpful. This is a lovely small town and it deserves to be restored to its original beauty and luster.”

Entry fee is $25 per person which includes cart, green fees, and food.

Prizes will be awarded and lunch will be served at the end of the tournament.

The tournament is open to both men and women golfers of all skill levels.
