A Moncks Corner man was arrested on Monday, May 12, 2014, and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

The suspect, Gregory Anthony Fields (28), was stopped by a Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Selective Enforcement Team deputy after disregarding a traffic signal at South Live Oak Rd. and West Main Street in Moncks Corner, according to Capt. Mike Williams. When the deputy approached the vehicle, he smelled an odor of marijuana coming from within and asked the driver to step out.

A search of Field’s person revealed almost a $1,000 in a pants pocket and 122 gross grams of marijuana was discovered under the front seat with a street value of approximately $1,230.00 along with a digital pocket scale.

Fields was booked at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center and released on bond following a hearing on Tuesday.
