There will be a meeting on Thursday May 8 at 4:30 p.m. in the Parenting Room at the St. Stephen Elementary School, 1053 Russellville Road. The public is invited to attend and learn about the opportunity to earn a college degree in St. Stephen.
Take classes in the evenings and receive a degree in teacher education. Become a certified teacher to earn a better salary. It is possible to qualify to receive financial assistance to complete a degree. If more information is needed, call 567-2813.
The St. Stephen Community History Room and Café will be open on Thursday, May 8 from 11a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The menu will consist of baked ham, yellow rice, mixed vegetables and sweet potato casserole.The cost of lunch is $7. Dine-in or take out plates are available.
The community café is located on Bay Street, inside of the St. Stephen History Room, and managed by local volunteers. Support from the public is greatly appreciated.

Community Outreach Tea Party
The annual Community Outreach Tea Party hosted by the ladies of Outreach Ministries, 3458 N. Hwy 52 in St. Stephen will be Saturday, May 10 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The tea party theme is Open Your Eyes. There will be a ladies luncheon, a devotional time, fashion show and door prizes. This event is for ladies only.
Celebrating Memorial Day
A memorial ceremony will be presented by the CSS David Chapter 2656, United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) of Moncks Corner at the Old Santee Canal Park in Moncks Corner. The UDC chapter will be celebrating Confederate Memorial Day on Saturday, May 10 by reading the names of the soldiers listed on the monument located in front of the Berkeley County Museum and Heritage Center at 11 a.m.
This solemn service will honor the memory of those that served in the “War Between the States” from Berkeley County, with chapter members reading each name. The public is invited to attend this event (Bring your own chair). After the event, visitors are invited to visit the very interesting museum and gift shop.
Please notice there has been a change of plans for the Confederate Memorial Day Services on May 10. The morning service at the Confederate monument at the Berkeley Museum will start at 11 a.m. instead of 10 a.m. The annual evening candlelight service to be held at St Stephen’s Episcopal Church in St. Stephen has been cancelled.
