St. Stephen High School reunion May 3

There will be a high school reunion on Saturday, May 3 at 3 p.m. for the St. Stephen High School classes of 1962 and 1963. The reunion will be held at the Spring Grove Hunting Preserve (225 Covey Rise Lane in St. Stephen). School memorabilia is welcome. The joint class reunion is being hosted by David and Bettye Shealy. Community Lunch

The St. Stephen Community History Room and Café will be open on Thursday, May 8 from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The menu will consist of baked ham, yellow rice, mixed vegetables and sweet potato casserole.The cost of lunch is $7. Dine-in or take-out plates are available.

The community café is located on Bay Street, inside of the St. Stephen History Room, and managed by local volunteers. Support from the public is greatly appreciated.

New Library

The Berkeley County Library System and Berkeley County Government invite county residents to celebrate the grand opening of the Hanahan Library in its new location, 1216 Murray Court on Sunday, May 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. The new 6,700 square foot Hanahan Library replaces the old branch located at in the Yeaman’s Hall Plaza on Yeaman’s Hall Road. Berkeley County Government’s Capital Improvement fund made this building project possible.

UDC Celebrating Memorial Day

A memorial ceremony will be presented by the CSS David Chapter 2656, United Daughters of the Confederacy of Moncks Corner.

The UDC chapter will celebrate Confederate Memorial Day on Saturday, May 10 by reading the names of the soldiers listed on the monument in front of the Berkeley Museum at 10 a.m.

In the evening of May 10 the UDC chapter will also host its annual candlelight service at the St. Stephens Episcopal Church.
