Berkeley finishes third in county meet

Roger Lee/Independent Keishaun Limehouse was one of two Berkeley “County Champions” winning the 110-meter hurdles at the Berkeley County track meet on Wednesday, April 23 at Cane Bay.


The Berkeley Stags track teams placed third and fourth in the Berkeley County Track Meet held Wednesday, April 23 at Cane Bay High School.

Stratford’s Lady Knights brought home the county championship with 183 points and Hanahan’s boys claimed the championship with 164.50 points.

The Lady Stags placed fourth with 79 points behind Stratford, Cane Bay (151) and Goose Creek (83), and ahead of fifth place Timberland with 62 points.

The Cross Lady Trojans amassed 37 points in the eight-team meet.

For the boys, the Stags finished third with 109 points behind Hanahan and Stratford, (160), and ahead of Goose Creek (106), Cane Bay (96), Cross (18.5) and Timberland 6.

For the Lady Stags, Jonnay Anthony swept the short sprints winning the 100-and 200-meter dashes. Anthony ran a 12.53 second 100-meters and a 26.24 second 200-meter dash.

Jaquoia Williams took top honors in the triple long jump with a combined leap of 32-feet, 11 inches.

Shanyra Lisbon of Cross won the girls’ high jump with a leap of 4-8.

On the boys’ side, the Stags’ Tyler Mills won the pole vault with a vault of 13-6.

Keishaun Limehouse won a county championship in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.91.
